Hounds about to hunt, and the moment when the hunting horn is sounded

Saturday 20 December 2008

I heard recently that when wolves were first domesticated, in selecting for puppyish characteristics such as obedience and friendliness, we were stuck with other puppyish traits such as tail-wagging and floppy ears. The redoubtable hunters here certainly look soft and playful!

It isn’t really apparent here but they are pretty big dogs. Big pawprints all over the muddy lanes, as well as hoofprints and poo, of course.

This goes with my post about the hunt and other brief film.
